It was the first time I ever try Emirati food and I just fell in love with it because of this place. The food is beyond delicious. The meat melts in your mouth, the rice has the perfect amount of spices, seafood is on point. Im not a beef eater, but I highly recommend the Machboos Laham. It’s a 5/5 place.

This place has an Emirati homey feel! I love the interiors and the overall vibe of this place. Food is great and large in portion. The staff are nice but not very attentive. Our drinks came after our meals and had to wait for server’s attention to get our bill. But otherwise it was a very pleasant experience and for sure will try this place again.

A lovely place to have authentic Emirati cuisine, we went for the chicken machboos, lamb biryani and the robyan magli. The main courses were absolutely delicious, generous portion size as well. We loved the chicken machboos.

We found this place while we were craving for some emirati cuisine. This restaurant is true to it's name, serving the most amazing local cuisine in Uae. We ordered for Britain which is called Beryani Robyan and a chicken kebab. It was sufficient for the two of us. Worth the money and luckily we had offer I'm our credit card so they gave buy one get one. The staff was friendly too.
Been here with friends. Ordered jewaneh(chicken wings) and squid for starters. For main course had beryani laham, lamb stew curry and quail. We all loved the chicken starter, beryani and the lamb stew. Good retro ambience and service.
Had the grill seabream and seabass. It was fantastic! Taste just like the ocean. Definitely a must try. Staff (Catherine) was very attentive and polite.

Usually every Friday morning we are having our breakfast in Al Fanar restaurant. We usually if we arrive in time we order the set breakfast menu where you can chose from 2 main courses salad bread and tea.
I usually take Laham Nasheef and egg shakshoka , ciabatta bread salad and tea. My wife usually takes keema shakshouka ciabatta bread , salad, tea and churbab with honey and date syrup.
The staff is very attentive the ambience nice and the food quality are awesome. Also the prices are good compared to other places where we had breakfast.
Nice emiraty food although you will not find every thing in the menu to be available, but still most of the food in the menu are delicious also very friendly staff

After skipping lunch cane here for some coffee and landed up ordering some snacks too. Its set with a 1960s style dubai house with photos of that era.reminded me of my old village house and visit to grandparents. Delighting staff and an Arabic coffee ( Emirati style) pot to die for, now will be the highlight of this trip. Their speciality le qaimat was especially yummy with Its dates syrup too. Would love to come over again.
Really enjoy this emarati restaurant. There isn’t many emirati restaurants here ; its a delight to see the traditional interiors and staffs dressed in local dress. The serveware are the pretty flowery emirati ones. Gets you to think about the old days of UAE.

Situated in Yas Mall Cascade walk right next to Ferrari world entrance, this restaurant is a good place for expats to try Emirati cuisine.
The USP of Al Fanar is that dishes like Jasheed (or Qsheed- shredded baby shark served with white rice), Thareed (flat bread layered with choice of lamb/ chicken stew), Harees (coarsely ground wheat with meat porridge) which are not easily available in other Arabic restaurants are available here.
Service is prompt , efficient and cordial - the waiting staff speak English and should be able to guide you on the dishes if required. The dishes are priced reasonably and the portion sizes are decent. The restaurant is themed to look like UAE of yesteryears -good ambience. The clientele is mostly local and expat Arabs with decent turn out of other expat crowd too.
We tried Jasheed (excellent), Naghar Nashef (squid -very good), Thareed Laham (OK - too much bread in the dish for our taste) and Harees (too bland for our tastes- we prefer the Indian version Haleem).

In my opinion, the staff will dictate how good your dining experience will be in a restaurant. This is my first time to try an authentic emirati cuisine, so I was open to anything. The staff were very polite and helpful. They suggested the best the dishes that was just right for a first timer. This made my experience really nice. I would definitely dine here again when I visit Abu Dhabi again.

Posto molto carino e tipico. Sembra di essere in una tipica piazza araba e non in un centro commerciale. Le cameriere simpatiche e cordiali. Per iniziare ci hanno servito dei ceci al peperoncino molto buoni. Consiglio vivamente se si vuole assaggiare la cucina araba su yas island.

Emirati food, what a long way I have come from not loving it at all when I first tasted it to absolutely loving it now. Why the change of thought ? after trying out Emirati food over and over again I understood that its the simplicity in their dishes that make the dish so flavourful. This cuisine focuses entirely on bringing out the existing flavour of the food itself without having to add to many additives. So in my journey of trying this cuisine, my latest venture was at Al Fanar restaurant located in Yas Mall.

If you are looking for a emirati ifthar, Look no further beacuse Al Fanar restaurant & cafe got you covered. Not only the ambiance is going to take you back to the old Dubai it even delivers when it comes to the food. For a small price of 116 dhirams per adult and 58 dhirams for children above 4 years. You get an wide range of selection from the most requested and ordered dishes of the reataurant. Which is quite rare. Because restaurant usually don't offer their prime selections as a part of an offer. But here at al Fanar you can enjoy everything that they are famous for in one go divided into four courses.
The 1st course includes the drink and starters.. We ordered the famous vimto slushy and Laban drink and vegetarian samosa and the ever so delightful crispy cheese roll drizzled with honey. It was just a party in your mouth.
For the 2nd course we got the jarjeer salad which looked so plain jane with just rocket leaves and cucumber but let me tell you it was anything but plain. The flavour in that salad was so smack on and so was the salad tomat with a hint of freshly grinded mustard seeds. For the soups we had chicken soup and lentil soup. Now the chicken soup wasn't up to my pallatte because it lacked flavour but that lentil soup was just beyond perfection. The spices was mellow but to the point and just so delish.
The 3rd course we got the famous harees and the chicken machboos. That harees was slow cooked to perfection and ever so fatty and creamy and just pure pleasure to eat. Some may say that it doesn't have much spices. But please remember that this is isnt HALEEM. For me this was such a delight. Mellow and mushy and just so wonderful to eat. I see why this is famous during ramadaan time. It's so rich and creamy that will give you instant energy and nourishment and still mellow enough for the stomach.
Coming to the chicken machboos. Well what can I say chicken grilled to perfection and blending in with the rice that is cooked with beautiful spices married together.
The 4th and final course we had the luqaimat and sago. Along with Arabic coffee. The sago was the first time for me. I have not had emirati version of the sago pudding. It was just a simply prpeaired sago with sugar and ample cinnamon powder and almond flakes on top. Really enjoyed that. Coming to the luqaimat . Let me tell you.. I have tried this at several places but never really wondered why such hype there was to it till I tried it here at al Fanar. My gosh!!! Wasn't that a treat. Now I clearly see why luqaimat is one of the favourite desserts in U.A.E and it deserves all the hype. It's so worth a trip just to try the luiqmat. It was that good.
Me and my family really enjoyed the ifthar here. Highly recommend it. So worth it. 😙

Al Fanar challenges everyone who thinks or says that Emarati Cuisine is bland. It isnt, at all. Esp not at Fanar.
We love it because the menu is simple, reasonable priced, non spicy and meat loving! We always order the lamb biryani, prawn majboos, thareed, harees and lgaymat. The lamb meat is sooo tender, covered with tomato and onion gravy.
Decor is fantastic, giving you the feeling of 1980s - classy. The restaurant is listed on Entertainer to avail the buy1get1 offers. We are regular customers. #approved

It's my family's first time in Abu Dhabi and we wanted to tey something really local. Right after Ferrari World, we went straight to this restaurant spontaneously and the food here did not disappoint. The mixed appetizer was really great and the chicken with rice (picture not included) was great as well (a family of 4 can share this).
If you're looking for a quick authentic snack in Yas Island or after going around Ferrari World, this is a great restaurant you can try!

Good food. We were a table of 3 and ordered the chicken, prawn and squid cooked in tomato sauce. Delicious. The complimentary nibbles (plain chickpeas). Mains requires choosing between bread and rice as a side , which seems strange considering that bread is typically provided in addition to the main meal.

Had been thinking about Emirati dishes this summer and ultimately starting off with Al Fanar ...
The ambiance was set in the traditional style but was crisp.
We did a brunch as it was Friday... so as a starter had some scrambled eggs n tomato with thin bread as starter... wow that was nice.
Then headed directly to the main course... prawn machboos and emarati kababs. The machboos came with a tangy tomato sauce and was superb so was the grill.
Service was good and the members were pleasant.
It was nice to visit the restaurant nice place and quietly its my second time.., i like this restaurant 💕💕 many tables in the restaurant and good view..,

This is the perfect traditional emirati food, reasonable price, but the last order at 10pm even on weekend. We got tomato onion salad, soup, chicken machbous, grilled shrimp, and thereed.

it is very delicious with a variety of dishes. In the beginning, I was not sure about the test. I have tried it. it is absolutely worth of driving from Abu Dhabi to Yas mall and dine at this restaurant. It becomes a regular weekly visit to the restaurant. as their food is good and their staff are so friendly and professional.

The experience was very nice.
Before we started, we were greated with chickpeas simmered in hot water. We had: shrimps with red sauce, meat kebab, salad and Loqeimat, ice cream, doughnuts and tea for desserts. The food was delicious, very well done. The traditional feel is a plus. Dishes were served in traditional plates. Bread came hot. The restaurant has a nice setting.

طبعا المطعم غني عن التعريف، المطعم بكبره طابع اماراتي ويكفي اغاني ميحد حمد الجديمه، طلبت شوربة هريس والصراحه شي خطير 👍🏻، مموش روبيان لك عليه يعني ٦ من ١٠ في زفرة روبيان بزيادة والمفروض ما يكون جي، واوصي باللقيمات بعد الاكل لانها خطيرة 😍، وطبعا في اكلات كثيرة وخاصة اللي بالدجاج "جميلة" مثل المكبوس والبرياني واوصيكم بالمرقوقة 👍🏻

Food looks good but it would be a good idea to include Hummus on the menu. The ambience and general outlook of the restaurtant gives the visitor an authentic feel.

Excellent Emirati cuisine with great variety and lots to choose from. Unfortunately, there is not much of choice for vegetarians. The ambience is very tradition and the restaurant is very clean. Service is quick and the waiters are polite and very helpful! Value for money and highly recommend. Will visit again!!

I visited al fanar restaurant and I found that the service is very nice and the food is very delicious , the decorations takes me to the past it's very fantastic, it's very good experiment to visit Al fanar restaurant but there are one issue which is missing which is no privacy there are no covered tables this is the only problem

Conveniently situated near the boulevard in yas mall.. Al Fanar is a must for people who would like to enjoy Emirati cuisine. The menu isn't suited much for vegetarians so in that case you can ask for their other "set menu". Portions are massive and tasty. It was the best biriyani I've ever had. After the meal I was given a sweet dessert which I'm not sure of the name but it was heavenly. Great place! Shukran!
Ordered Arabic coffee, Leqaimat and Khanfaroush. Waiter informed us that we have to wait at least 15 minutes for the food. The food was very delicious and full of flavour, especially the Khanfaroush. It is a nice restaurant for tourist or family visit. Been several times to the branch in Venetian village and food has never disappointed me.
Been here and tried majboos and buryani, but the shrips buryani is wow!
Its a good place for having an emirati food for breakfast or lunch its delicious and the place is very nice with uae culture.

One of the best places to get an actual Emirati cuisine. I had lunch there once some time ago and I remember how much I loved their traditional chicken curry with white rice, it felt like my own mother was in the kitchen preparing it!!! This morning I wanted to try their breakfast menu and to my surprise their balaleet was delicious! The prices are fair for the amount of food you will get! If you want to experience traditional Emirati food, this place is the right place to be!

Being in Abu Dhabi and with everyone hungry as we skipped lunch after a late breakfast and spending the day at Ferrari World, we decided to try traditional Emirati food at Al Fanar, which is in Yas Mall but just outside Ferrari World's entrance.
The menu was vast and prices seemed steep but we were helped by our waiter who was excellent in answering questions about the various meals and even told us that what looked like a meal for one on the menu came in a family sized serving bowl and four people could eat from it. That should really be better explained on the menu as it is depicted as a meal for one.
Being hungry and that meal being a goat stew, we ordered a single size chicken dish for one person who didn't eat red meat.
The portions are big and the food was well prepared. The margougat laham (goat stew with Arabic dumplings in it) was a bit bland for my liking and had a lot more root vegetables in it than meat but the portion was enough for 3 of us. The chicken was delicious, succulent and juicy with a nice tomato and onion thick chutney/gravy.
Worth a try of the local cuisine if you are visiting, just make sure you ask the waiter all your questions before ordering.
The Restaurant is very traditional and unique in every way, the location, decoration, service, friendliness and of course the food. They have two different seating areas Inside and open terrace to the fountain ,Very friendly atmosphere. We went there with a group recommended by friend of mine and were very pleased by the taste, abundance and variety of different typical dishes. The staff was very friendly and efficient.
When we got up from the table we were offered a hand wash with rose water sprinkled into our hands what was a nice hospitality etiquette of Emirati traditional cuisine in an rustic ambiance of old UAE. Food is fresh, strongly I recommend to try and visit the restaurant located in yas mall ferrari entrance.

Happened to Visit Alfanar and Love the decor, very considered touches. The food ordered was Seafood soup which had nice flavour of seafood with touch of tomato snd chillie which was aperfect combination then we ordered Machboos Laham a perfect blend of spices and the rice cooked in its own Stock informed by the server the Lemon mint drink is a must as it has nice taste of mint and lemonand last but not the least is the Khabish which is a dessert of its own less sweet and yet good
I enjoyed the setting and atmosphere. The food was just part of it. Looking forward to coming back with a menu and reading about what I'm about to have.
Its gives us traditional food of the UAE. Ambiance of the restaurant is old style which will remind you 1960 era of uae. We enjoy the all the experience

Went to this restaurant with my friends, we really loved the concept and the food. They have traditional Emirati food and it's set up as UAE in the 60s which we found it very interesting. we really had a good time and we will definetly go back again

I only discovered this place because Texas Roadhouse was overbooked and I was really hungry. The old school Emirati land rover in front of the restaurant caught my attention, so I thought I'd go for it.
After taking a look at the menu, I ordered Deyay Nashif (literally means dry chicken), Chicken Biryani, some chicken tikka and kebab. Complimentary Emirati style chickpeas weren't that great, rather tasteless.
After waiting for about 25 min the Deyay Nashif arrived. Pieces of chicken cooked in rich tomato sauce served with rice. I tried using a fork and knife, but it just wouldn't work so I dig in with my hands. Chicken was perfectly seasoned and that tomato sauce just infused throughout the chicken. Absolutely loved that dish.
Chicken biryani was rather a disappointment. The rice was just white rice, same as the one I got with my previous dish, with just a few spices here and there.
Moving on to my grills, chicken tikka was absolutely unique. I have never tasted such a thing. It combines between Indian and local spices creating a perfect combination, as well as the kebab
I recommend Deyay Nashif with namlait (soda water) so u wouldn't pass out!
